Royal Opera House
Your visit to the Royal Opera House is not complete without a visit to one of our many restaurants and bars. For most people, eating and drinking at the Royal Opera House is an essential part of the glamour and buzz of attending a performance, but non-ticket holders can book lunch or enjoy afternoon tea in the Amphitheatre Restaurant and, on sunny days, sit outside on the Amphitheatre Terrace, with its spectacular views of the Piazza.
In addition to the Amphitheatre Restaurant and Bar, the Royal Opera House also offers you the chance to experience the spectacular, soaring open spaces of the Paul Hamlyn Hall Champagne Bar and Balconies Restaurant; the traditional grandeur in the Crush Room; and exclusive opportunities for private dining in the Conservatory and private dining rooms.
Our Head Chef now creates menus specifically for each performance to reflect running times and audience demand. For more information see bottom of page.

Herbfest
This year Company of Cooks are celebrating urban gardening as part of a summer-long Herbfest. The Royal Opera House will be transformed with large herb installations, miniature gardens, herb-ladenmenus and much more. No matter the occasion, soak up the best of summer on one of our gorgeously green outdoor terraces made for sun, convivial drinks and the best of British summer herbs. Herbfest summer menu.
Host your next celebration at the Royal Opera House.

Amphitheatre Restaurant
The Amphitheatre Restaurant is a smart and elegant venue, its walls hung with images from iconic past productions at the Royal Opera House. The à la carte menu changes regularly and includes weekly, seasonal specials. Our Head Chef is inspired by classic British and European dishes, and his menu is full of rich flavours and seasonality. The Amphitheatre Restaurant is open to members of the public for lunch and afternoon tea, Monday to Saturday.
In the evenings, the Amphitheatre Restaurant is open exclusively to ticket-holders for the evening’s performance at the Royal Opera House. Your table will be available from roughly two hours before the curtain goes up (from 5:30pm for most performances) and held for you throughout the night so that you and your guests can enjoy the very best that the Royal Opera House has to offer, both on and off stage. For younger members of the audience, a special Children’s Menu is also available.

Amphitheatre Terrace
During the warmer months, the Amphitheatre Terrace provides a lovely outdoor space, perfect for enjoying the elegant Covent Garden Piazza.
Al fresco dining in style, a sheltered ‘sun trap’ with classic views of all the buzz and bustle that makes Covent Garden an essential part of any visit to London.
Sharing the menu of our Amphitheatre Restaurant, the Amphitheatre Terrace is perfect for pre-performance and interval dining at opera and ballet performances during the summer months, with outdoor heaters to counter the occasional chill in the air. It is open to theatre-goers and the public alike for lunch and afternoon tea, and for ticket-holders only in the evenings, from 19 May until the end of the Season.

Amphitheatre Bar
If you are looking for something a little less formal than dinner in one of our restaurants, the Amphitheatre Bar offers sandwiches, salads, cakes and desserts as well as a full drinks list. As the name suggests it’s perfectly located for ticket-holders at Amphitheatre level.
You can make a reservation for a table up until midday on the date of your booking, depending on availability.

Paul Hamlyn Hall Balconies Restaurant
Once a part of Covent Garden flower market, the spectacular, glass-vaulted Paul Hamlyn Hall is a cathedral-like space with a great sense of theatre and a definite ‘wow’ factor. At gallery level, the Balconies Restaurant provides a stunning, modern space at the heart of the Royal Opera House. Amid the energy and excitement of world-class opera and ballet productions, the Paul Hamlyn Hall Balconies Restaurant offers spectacular views, superb, friendly service and a luxurious modern European menu that, like the Paul Hamlyn Hall itself, combines the very best of old and new.

Paul Hamlyn Hall Champagne Bar
A unique collaboration with Ruinart Champagne, the Paul Hamlyn Hall Champagne Bar is what many people instantly think of when they hear about the Royal Opera House.
Enjoying a glass of chilled, crisp champagne before curtain up or during the interval is, for many people, a part of the ritual and enjoyment of a night at the opera or ballet. So, too, is a plate of our smoked salmon, smoked exclusively to our unique recipe by Severn & Wye.
Pre-orders are laid out under the North Balcony (Auditorium side). The Paul Hamlyn Hall Champagne Bar is most easily reached by ticket-holders to the Stalls, Stalls Circle and Grand Tier seats and boxes.

Crush Room
With its chandeliers and oil paintings, opulent reds and golds, the Crush Room harks back to the 19th-century origins of the Royal Opera House building. Service, too, takes its cue from times past, with butlers on hand to attend to your needs.
The menu of cold dishes makes the most of locally sourced produce, from baked British salmon and potted mackerel to rare roast beef and English farmhouse cheese.
Many wines and Champagnes are available by the glass, and of course you can return to your table in the interval for a delicious dessert.
